Detectives with the Houston Police Department are investigating what appears to be a homicide at a north Houston smoke shop.
According to a homicide detective at the scene, the investigation remains in its very early stages.

Officers were called to the Daze Elevated smoke shop in the 8600 block of N. Houston Rosslyn Road Saturday afternoon, after an employee discovered the body of the store’s owner inside the business.
Preliminary information indicates an employee drove past the store around noon and noticed the “open” sign illuminated, but the owner’s vehicle was not parked outside as usual.
The employee entered the business and found the owner lying on the ground deceased in the back of the store.
Detectives believe a shooting may have occurred around midnight, based on surveillance footage collected from the business.
The Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet completed a review to determine the official cause and manner of death.
Investigators confirmed that one person of interest is currently in custody. Authorities said the individual was arrested earlier in the day by a separate unit for allegedly driving a stolen vehicle. The car is believed to be connected to the case.
The person of interest has not yet been questioned by homicide detectives and has not been formally charged in connection with the death.
Police say the investigation is ongoing, and additional details will be released as they are confirmed.
