When officials arrived at the scene, they found a teen who had been shot once in the abdomen.
Houston Fire Department paramedics transported him to the hospital, where he was reported to be recovering in stable condition. Authorities said he was alert and talking on the way to the hospital, and his parents were notified of the situation.
Investigators learned the teen had come out of a residence and approached the occupants of a white pickup truck, possibly a Ford. There was some type of interaction between the teen and the people inside the truck before at least one shot was fired.
The pickup truck fled the scene with either one or two people inside. The victim told officers he knew the individuals in the truck, though police have not released information about their identities or ages.
Officers have since cleared the scene and are continuing the investigation, including gathering a statement from the teen at the hospital. No suspects have been detained at this time.
