RICHMOND, Texas – The latest motion by Fort Bend County Judge KP George’s defense attorney to disqualify Fort Bend County District Attorney Brian Middleton and the Fort Bend County District Attorney’s Office from George’s criminal cases has been denied.
The signed order by Judge Maggie Jaramillo came to light after 2 Investigates received the document on Thursday afternoon.
The motion was pushed for by George’s attorneys – Jared Woodfill and Terry Yates – after they made it clear to the court last week that Yates had learned after a meeting with a member of a law enforcement agency that Middleton was under criminal investigation.
Judge Jaramillo stated in her order, “The Court FINDS that the information provided is insufficient to show that Brian Middleton is the subject of a criminal investigation. The Court further FINDS that the information provided is insufficient to show that there is credible evidence that Brian Middleton engaged in criminal misconduct that constitutes an offense.”
The order ends with the Judge Jaramillo’s decision clearly visible, “hereby DENIED”.
George is set to go to trial on felony money laundering charges in the second week of March.
