Harris County Sheriff’s Office says driver failed to yield right of way to another car, causing chain-reaction crash

CROSBY, Texas – A bicyclist was killed after being struck by a vehicle in a chain-reaction crash near the Crosby Freeway, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said around 9:40 p.m. Friday night, a Hyundai SUV on FM 2100 failed to yield right of way to a Ford truck at the service road intersection with US 90. The SUV struck the Ford, causing it to lose control and strike a bicyclist in the right shoulder lane.

The bicyclist was airlifted to a hospital where authorities say he later died.

Authorities said the driver of the Ford remained on scene and showed no signs of intoxication.

The driver of the Hyundai and a passenger in the truck were also taken to the hospital. Authorities said they are expected to be okay.

It remains unclear if charges will be filed as the investigation remains ongoing by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division.
