Pedestrian fatally struck by SUV in north Harris County

Harris County deputies say pedestrian was crossing in an area without crosswalk

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A pedestrian was killed Friday night after being struck by an SUV while attempting to cross Kuykendahl Road in north Harris County, authorities said.

Through their preliminary investigation, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said the male pedestrian was attempting to cross the road in the 18000 block of Kuydendahl around 9:20 p.m.

Deputies said he entered the roadway in a section with no crosswalk and failed to yield right of way to oncoming gray SUV which struck him.

Harris County medical personnel responded and pronounced the man dead at the scene around 9:27 p.m.

The driver and a passenger were not injured. Both remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

Deputies said they do not suspect the driver was impaired.

The crash is under investigation by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division.
