BAYTOWN, Texas – The Baytown Fire Department says it is investigating two fatal fires which happened over a period of three days.
The first fire happened on Saturday in the Lakewood neighborhood. Crews arrived at a home to discover an elderly man inside. He received medical care at the scene and was transported to a Memorial Hermann Hospital by helicopter in critical condition. He later died from his injuries.
A second fatal fire happened on Tuesday at a manufactured home in the Stewart Heights neighborhood. Firefighters arrived and found a woman inside the home. She was rescued through a window, given medical treatment and then transported to Houston Methodist Baytown Hospital. She was later transferred to the burn center at UTMB Galveston, where she died from her injuries.
The Baytown Fire Marshal’s Office is continuing to investigate the cause of both fires.
