Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a teen Wednesday night who they believe carried out a string of armed robberies in north Harris County, threatening victims at gunpoint while riding an electric scooter.

HCSO detectives with the Violent Crimes Unit arrested Jalan Conway on Jan. 8 after a targeted surveillance operation.

Investigators said Conway’s pattern involved riding an electric scooter, approaching victims on foot and pointing a handgun directly at their faces while demanding personal property.

Around 7 p.m., detectives spotted a suspect matching Conway’s description wearing all black clothing and a ski mask as he entered an apartment complex in the 1900 block of Sugar Pine Circle. About 10 minutes later, he was seen leaving the complex and heading toward Kuykendahl Road before stopping at a nearby convenience store.

While detectives kept him under surveillance, they were notified of an aggravated robbery involving a suspect with the same description. After leaving the store, Conway headed northbound on Kuykendahl Road toward FM 1960, where marked patrol units were directed to his location.

Deputies said Conway tried to evade arrest on the scooter but was taken into custody without incident. Investigators recovered a handgun believed to have been used in the robbery along with the victim’s wallet.

Conway is charged with two counts of aggravated robbery and is being held in the Harris County Jail. Court records show he was already out on bond for separate offenses in December 2025.

Detectives believe there may be additional victims and ask anyone with information to contact HCSO at 713-274-9365 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
