HOUSTON – KPRC 2 and American Furniture Warehouse are surprising 20 deserving high school seniors with $2,500 scholarships in 2026. All students selected for scholarships have been nominated by their high schools.
North Shore Senior High School student Regina Gutierrez is our first KPRC 2-American Furniture Warehouse Senior Scholarship winner of the year. North Shore Senior High School is part of the Galena Park Independent School District.
Gutierrez is academically ranked eighteenth out of more than 1,000 students in her graduating class. She is a triplet, with two brothers who will be graduating with her in May. In her nomination essay, Gutierrez wrote, “Growing up alongside two siblings my age instilled in me a deep understanding of teamwork, support, and healthy competition.”
As a soccer player whose interest in kinesiology intensified after injuring her ACL, Gutierrez serves as a student athletic trainer at her school. She has also participated in a medical assisting program over three years. She is active in National Honor Society and the Hispanic Honor Society.
Gutierrez is planning on continuing her education at the University of Houston. Congratulations, Regina!
