Man crossing Broadway Street in crosswalk fatally struck by SUV, vehicle flees scene

HOUSTON – Houston Police have Broadway Street shut down in both directions after a fatal hit and run on the city’s southeast side Friday evening.

It happened in the 2900 block of Broadway Street

According to police, a man was fatally struck by a black SUV, which failed to stop.

Lt. Larry Crowson says the victim was crossing the street in a crosswalk and the SUV, which was heading southbound, failed to yield to the pedestrian. The SUV fled south on Broadway after striking the man.

Police are working to obtain surveillance video from nearby businesses as well as a few churches that were near the scene of the hit and run.
