Victims of the Galveston Bay medical plane crash honored in Texas City before returning to Mexico

Five of the six victims who tragically died in a medical plane crash off Galveston Bay last week are being honored today in Texas City before their remains are flown back to Mexico.

The crash happened during heavy fog as the medical plane was transporting a child from Mexico to Galveston for burn treatment. Multiple agencies responded to the scene, and bystanders bravely jumped into the water to assist survivors.

This morning, a prayer session is happening at a Texas City funeral home. Five hearses are preparing to carry the victims’ remains in a procession escorted by law enforcement to Scholes International Airport in Galveston.

A pastor leading the gathering described the transfer of remains as a somber but vital step in the healing process for everyone affected.

At the airport, naval officers will transfer the remains to a Mexican naval aircraft for their final journey home. Two people survived the crash and continue to receive treatment for their injuries.
