HOUSTON – Deputies with Constable Mark Herman’s Office stepped up patrols during the recent holiday season in an effort to curb impaired driving and prevent deadly crashes across Harris County Precinct 4, and the numbers show just how busy they were.

According to the Constable’s Office, deputies arrested 101 suspected drunk drivers during the proactive impaired driving initiative. Of those arrests, 21 were made over the New Year holiday alone.

Officials said each driver was stopped for a traffic violation and showed multiple signs of impairment. Deputies administered standardized field sobriety tests, which led to DWI arrests in each case. All suspects were booked into the Harris County Jail and charged with Driving While Intoxicated.

Several of the arrests involved more serious charges like Felony DWI with a child passenger.

“The Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office has arrested a total of 1,082 suspected drunk drivers in 2025,” Constable Mark Herman said in a statement. “Drinking and driving is not tolerated in Precinct 4. If you choose to drive drunk, you choose to go to jail.”

Officials noted that not all mugshots are available at this time.

The enforcement numbers come as new court data highlights the ongoing impact of impaired driving in Harris County.

According to the Harris County District Clerk’s Office, at least 113 DWI cases were filed on January 1, 2026.
