2 people shot at NYE party at short-term rental in north Houston

Hundreds of people spilled into the street early New Year’s Day after a disturbance at a short-term rental turned into a shooting in north Houston, leaving one man in critical condition and a woman hospitalized.

Houston police say officers were dispatched around 2:45 a.m.,to the 800 block of Yorkshire where a disturbance was reported at a short-term rental with an estimated 300 people in attendance.

When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. CPR was performed at the scene before he was transported to Ben Taub Hospital, where he remains in critical condition. A woman was also shot and taken to a hospital by a private vehicle.

This shooting was the second shooting overnight in Houston at a short-term rental. Earlier, officers responded to another short-term rental party where five people were shot in the Third Ward.
