TEXAS CITY, Texas – For many families in the Houston area, it’s hard enough to pay the bills, let alone put presents under the Christmas tree.
That’s where Deputy Mac Sanford comes in. The Galveston County Precinct 1 Constable deputy goes by ‘Deputy Sanford Claus’ this time of year.

For the last four years, Deputy Sanford has helped make Christmas possible for families who struggle to get presents for their children.
This week, he and his helpers, shared gifts with 432 children in the Bacliff, San Leon and Texas City areas of the county. Roughly 70 of those kids couldn’t pick up their presents, so in true Santa Sanford fashion, he delivered the presents on Christmas Eve.
“It means that my prayers are answered,” Deputy Sanford told KPRC 2’s Gage Goulding. “I always ask God to make me His vessel, and He always does. What better way to protect and serve than to protect the children’s innocence and belief in Santa?”
All in, they hand-wrapped and delivered more than 2,800 presents worth more than $55,000.
In the summer months (well, actually every month) when Santa Sanford Claus is away on ‘vacation,’ Deputy Sanford helps feed those in need through his Blessing Boxes.
