The incident happened in the 3500 block of Corder Street on Houston’s south side.

According to Lt. Larry Crowson, it all unfolded around 4:30 p.m. when officers were called to a reported major accident. They found the woman had been hit and was pinned between two vehicles. She was taken to a hospital for emergency surgery, but succumbed to her injuries.

Police learned that a man and woman had gotten into an argument somewhere closer to Highway 288 before they got in vehicles. The man started chasing the woman with his car and came down Corder Street at a high rate of speed. He ended up losing control of his vehicle, striking the unrelated female bystander, who was standing next to her car. She was pinned between her car and the man’s vehicle.

Crowson says the man in the car shows signs of intoxication. DWI investigators are working to determine whether he was impaired or not and the Harris County District Attorney’s Office is also at the scene to determine what charges the man could face.

“Obviously he was driving at a high-rate of speed down a residential street, so he could be charged with manslaughter, negligent homicide or something like that depending on what the DA comes up with, even if he’s not intoxicated,” Crowson said.
