Drunk driver arrested after running over, killing 34-year-old man

HOUSTON – A man was in custody after police said he was driving drunk and ran over a pedestrian in the Baytown area.
Police said it happened on the East Freeway near Garth Road at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday.
A 34-year-old man died at the scene.
The driver was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated.
It was unclear when the charge would be upgraded.
