Drivers beware: I-69 to SH 288 connector ramps closing all weekend

HOUSTON, Texas – TxDOT has scheduled closures on three major highways starting Dec. 12-25, each weekend starting on Friday evening and ending Monday morning.

The closures include:

• I-69 Southbound to SH 288 Southbound Connector Ramp

• SH 288 Northbound to I-69 Southbound Connector Ramp

• Hamilton St and Chenevert St Exits to SH 288 Southbound

TxDOT says these closures are necessary to allow contractors to place pavement markings and barriers on the ramps.

After the ramps reopen, they will have the same number of lanes as before, but the lanes will be shifted closer to the barrier.

This is in preparation for the demolition of the nearby Alabama Street bridge over the I-69 mainlanes, which is scheduled to begin on Friday, January 9, 2026.
