1 killed in overnight crash on US-290; outbound lanes shut down for investigation

HOUSTON – One person was killed early Monday in a crash that shut down all outbound lanes of U.S. 290 near 34th Street, according to Houston police.

The crash was reported around 3:05 a.m. Houston police and fire crews arrived to find multiple people down in the roadway and a heavily damaged Honda motorcycle, roughly 100 yards from the crash site.

Firefighters performed CPR on one victim, who was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The motorcycle rider was taken to Memorial Hermann and has several broken bones and will be in surgery.

No evidence shows any other vehicles were involved on scene at this time.

The Houston Police Department’s Vehicular Crimes Division is leading the investigation. All outbound lanes of U.S. 290 remained closed for several hours while authorities documented the scene and gathered evidence.
