Man hospitalized after Thanksgiving Day house fire reportedly sparked by barbecue grill

Houston firefighters say a barbecue grill sparked a Thanksgiving Day house fire that sent one person to the hospital with burn injuries.

Houston Fire Department crews responded to the fire around 10 a.m. Thursday on Winding Creek Way near Flagstone Terrace, according to HFD’s active incidents report.

Arson investigators were called to determine the official cause, but early information given to firefighters indicated that a barbecue grill may have ignited the home.

One person was taken to Memorial Hermann with first- and second-degree burns to their arms and hands while trying to escape the house.

HFD said there is no additional threat to the community, and the investigation into the fire remains ongoing.
