Power restored to nearly all homes impacted by weekend storms in Houston, CenterPoint confirms

Nearly all Houston-area households that experienced losses in power during the wave of severe thunderstorms have had their power restored, CenterPoint Energy announced.

During the peak of the storms at around 4 a.m. Saturday, approximately 169,000 of CenterPoint’s customers had lost power. By 7 a.m. Sunday morning, 168,965 customers’ power had been restored, the company announced in a statement.

At the peak of the early Sunday wave of storms at 1 a.m., around 17,000 customers had lost power. By 4 p.m., 15,500 of those customers had power.

“We appreciate our customers’ patience throughout this weather event as our dedicated crews worked around the clock to restore service safely and quickly to our local communities,” CenterPoint’s Chief Operating Officer Jesus Soto said in a statement released by the company.
