Driver shot to death, vehicle crashes into pole in Houston’s Sunnyside area

HOUSTON – Houston police are investigating after a man was found dead with a gunshot wound after crashing into a pole Wednesday.

It happened at 7920 Comal Street in Houston’s Sunnyside neighborhood.

According to Detective Cory Sharp, the shooting happened at around 10:40 a.m.

Sharp says the man driving the car was involved in some sort of confrontation with another man on a bicycle. At one point, a shooting occurred and the man in the car was hit. He drove a short distance before crashing into a telephone pole. He was found dead at the scene.

Sharp says the suspect on the bicycle fled the scene after the shooting and the suspect’s description is vague right now. They are looking for surveillance video to try and get more information about him.

The man who died is said to be in his mid-40s.
