Teen killed in possible shootout at Fifth Ward apartment complex

Houston police are investigating a deadly shooting at the Cleme Manor Apartments Thursday night that left an 18-year-old man dead.

Houston police said officers responded to reports of gunfire around 10:22 p.m. at the 5300 block of Coke Street.

When officers arrived, they found an 18-year-old man who had been shot once in the upper abdomen. Houston Fire Department paramedics transported the victim to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Investigators said multiple types of shell casings were found at the scene, including two kinds of pistol rounds and AR-style rifle casings, suggesting a possible shootout.

A nearby apartment was also struck by gunfire, but no additional injuries were reported.

Police said no weapons were recovered, and the number of suspects involved remains unclear. All individuals had fled before officers arrived.
