HOUSTON – The northbound lanes of the Eastex Freeway near Lyons Avenue was at a complete closure due to a hazmat spill following a crash involving a cement truck, according to Houston TranStar and Police Department.

The freeway has since reopened.

What happened

The three-vehicle crash was reported at 2:06 p.m. on the northbound lanes of IH-69 Eastex at Lyons Avenue.

Police said a cement truck rolled over and there is a possible fatality.

Drivers were asked to avoid the area or find an alternate route heading north until debris was cleared.
