‘Forever engraved in our hearts’: Names officially released of those who died in July 4th Guadalupe River flood

KERR COUNTY, Texas – The Texas Rangers have formally released the names of those who died and the two who still remain missing after the devastating July 4 flood event on the Guadalupe River in Kerr County.

As the list was released Friday, Kerrville Mayor Joe Herring and Kerr County Judge Rob Kelly released a joint statement.

“As the Texas Rangers formally release the names of those lost in the July 4 floods, we are reminded once more of the lives forever changed by this tragedy. These names are not new to our community; they are our family, friends and neighbors, and they are forever engraved in our hearts,” the statement read. “Our search is not over. Two families are still waiting to bring their loved ones home. We ask for your continued prayers for the affected families, our community, all the dedicated first responders who have not given up, and for all those supporting recovery efforts. The City of Kerrville and Kerr County are strong and resilient. In unity, we find strength; in compassion, we find healing; and in resolve, we find the will to carry on.”

A total of 117 people died in the flood in Kerr County. Twenty-five of those were from Southeast Texas.

Two people, Jeffrey Ramsey, 63, of Lewisville, and Cecilia Stewart, 8, of Austin, remain missing as of Friday.
