Recovery mission underway after man reportedly fell into Brays Bayou near Texas Medical Center

HOUSTON – Houston Fire Department search and rescue crews spent more than two hours searching Brays Bayou on Wednesday after multiple 911 callers reported that a man fell into the water.

The calls came from the Texas Medical Center near 7000 Fannin Street around 1:05 p.m., but the search quickly expanded.

Crews positioned themselves on top of bridges over the bayou into the Greater East End area of Lawndale Street and Wayside Drive.

A drone, a U.S. Coast Guard Helicopter, and boats from several agencies searched the water.

Around 3:30 p.m., HFD said the frantic search had been called off. It shifted to a recovery mission.

Information about the man was not provided.
