Houston Police Department (HPD) patrol officers were called to the complex around 3:50 p.m. to conduct a welfare check after concerns were raised.

When officers arrived, they knocked on the door but received no response.

They then noticed blood on the rear concrete patio and entered the unit.

Inside, they found Odunsi lying on the kitchen floor with multiple stab wounds.

A man, later identified as her roommate, was found in a bedroom with at least one stab wound. Odunsi was pronounced dead at the scene, while the man was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

The man was later identified as Chester Lamar Grant, 40, who has since been charged with murder in connection with Odunsi’s death.
