When authorities reached the scene, they learned that a man had entered the store wearing a black hoodie and dark clothing. The store’s owner said that the man was armed with a gun.

The man pulled out the gun and attempted to rob the store, the owner said. This prompted the owner to pull out his own firearm and shoot the would-be-robber in the store.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials said it appears that the owner was the only one who fired a shot during the altercation.

Authorities have also confirmed that there is surveillance footage of the incident from inside the store and at nearby locations. However, that footage has not been obtained by KPRC 2 at this time.

Officials are working to determine whether or not this attempted robbery is connected to similar cases in the Houston area.

Our Sky2 Chopper was over the scene at around 11:30 a.m. Most of the police presence from the morning’s events had cleared out when our chopper arrived.
