The Pasadena Independent School District Board of Trustees has named Dr. Toni Lopez as the lone finalist for superintendent following a meeting on March 5.
Lopez, currently serving as the district’s deputy superintendent, is set to replace Dr. DeeAnn Powell, who is retiring.
By state law, the board must wait 21 days before officially voting on Lopez’s appointment, with the final decision scheduled for March 27.
The selection follows a months-long search led by the Texas Association of School Boards Executive Search Services. Community input and staff discussions helped shape the criteria for candidates.
Lopez has spent 28 years in Pasadena ISD, holding various leadership roles, including principal, executive director, and associate superintendent of human resources.
