Galveston County Jail trades green for pink in new inmate uniform policy

GALVESTON, Texas – Looks like pink is the new black! Galveston County Jail trades in its inmate jumpsuits for a new color.

The transition for inmates went from traditional green uniforms to new safety pink jumpsuits.

The goal of this change is to “discourage recidivism, enhance visibility for corrections officers in identifying potential threats, and create a calming atmosphere, as the color pink is believed to help alleviate feelings of anger.”

GCSO says the initiative seeks to foster a positive environment within the correctional facility.
