Houston ISD elementary student removed after bringing weapon to school

HOUSTON – A student was removed from a Houston ISD elementary school Wednesday after reportedly bringing a weapon on campus.

Details as to how it all happened are scarce, but according to a message sent to parents, it happened at Pleasantville Elementary School in east Houston near Robinson Park.

The discovery was made Wednesday afternoon when staff learned a student had a weapon on campus—the letter does not detail what kind of weapon. However, no one was injured and police were called and the student was detained before being removed from campus.

Here is the complete message from the school’s principal to Pleasantville Elementary parents/guardians HISD shared with KPRC 2:

“All students and staff are safe. This afternoon we discovered that a student had a weapon on campus. Houston ISD police responded. The weapon was confiscated and no one was injured. The student was detained and removed from campus. Please know that we take these situations very seriously, as the safety of our students and staff is always our absolute top priority.”
