An investigation into a shooting led authorities in Texas City to uncover a massive drug selling operation.
On Jan. 17, Texas City Police Department was alerted to a shooting that took place just before 8 p.m. in the 400 block of 20th Avenue North. When officers later spoke to the two male victims with gunshot wounds at a local hospital, they were able to connect their situation to the same incident.
After obtaining a search warrant for the residence where the shooting allegedly took place, authorities discovered $20,800 in cash along with a slew of illegal substances, including the following:
20,077 grams of marijuana (more than 44 pounds)
496 grams of THC gummies
826 THC vape units
Marijuana “moon rocks” (marijuana nuggets sprayed with hash oil and coated with cannabis crystals)
THC wax products
1,000 grams of crystal methamphetamine
197 grams of powder cocaine
26 grams of crack cocaine
3,121 grams of psilocybin (i.e. “Magic Mushrooms”)
1,437 units of LSD
Various undisclosed pills
TCPD officials estimate that the combined street value for the seized substances exceeds $400,000. No arrests were announced in the media release detailing the bust.
