The utility provider emphasized the dangers of driving in these conditions after a vehicle collided with a power pole, which caused wires to come down and raised the risk of power outages.
“Cars, trucks, vehicles, and power poles are not a good mix,” said Logan Anderson, spokesperson for CenterPoint Energy. “These impacts can cause wires down and power outages. Safety is our top priority, and we urge everyone to use a safety-first mindset.”
CenterPoint encouraged residents to stay home and avoid unnecessary travel, as icy roads and freezing conditions continue to pose risks across the region.
