In the first weekend of the Texas Longhorns’ offseason, one of the team’s top players has announced that he is heading to the pros.
On Sunday, offensive linemen Kelvin Banks Jr. declared for the 2025 NFL Draft in a post on Instagram.
Banks, a junior, grew up in Humble and attended Summer Creek High School. In the 2024-25 college football season, he was a unanimous first-team All-American and first-team All-SEC, and he won both the Outland Award and the Lombardi Award, the latter of which was presented live on KPRC 2+.
He is projected to be a first-round pick in the upcoming draft.
Banks wasn’t the only Longhorn from the Houston area to declare for the draft on Sunday. Hayden Conner, a senior offensive lineman from Katy who attended Taylor High School, also announced that he would be entering the draft. Jaydon Blue, a junior running back from Houston who attended Klein Cain High School, also declared.
