Important dates to look out for on Houston ISD’s Spring 2025 calendar

HOUSTON – As Houston ISD staff and students, prepare to kick off the Spring 2025 semester, there are some important dates parents might want to remember.

For example, shortly after returning from winter break, students will take the next round of Northwest Evaluation Association’s Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) exams

January 2025

• January 7: Students return to school
• January 10: Deadline to submit feedback for 2025-2026 School Calendar
• January 14 - 16: MAP Growth exams
• January 20: Martin Luther King Jr. Day (No Classes)
• January 22- 24: STAAR Interim testing (Algebra, English, English II)
• January 26: Texas Success Initiative Assessment 2.0

February 2025

• February 12: School choice application lottery; Phase 1 applications due
• February 13: Board of Managers vote on 2025-2026 School Calendar
• February 14: Staff Development Day (No Classes)
• February 17: President’s Day (No Classes)

March 2025

• March 10 - 14: Spring Break (No Classes)
• March 26: ACT Exams
• March 31: Chavez Huerta Day (No Classes)

April 2025

• April 2: SAT Testing
• April 10: STAAR EOC for English and RLA
• April 15: STARR EOC for English II and RLA
• April 16: STAAR EOC for 8th grade Science, MS Biology, and U.S. History
• April 18: Spring Holiday
• April 22: STAAR Exam 5th grade Science
• April 23: STAAR EOC Biology, 8th grade Social Studies
• April 24: STAAR Math exams (3rd - 5th grade)
• April 29: STAAR Math Exams (6th - 8th grade), MS Algebra I, and EOC Algebra I

May 2025
