Beloved Bellaire officer dies after Hurricane Beryl accident
Bellaire PD mourns the loss of Officer Mark Herman, remembered for nearly 48 years of dedicated service (Bellaire Police Department)
The Bellaire Police Department is mourning the loss of Officer Mark Herman, who passed away over the weekend after being injured at home during cleanup efforts following Hurricane Beryl .
Officer Herman, a dedicated public servant, was hospitalized after the accident and had been receiving care for his injuries before succumbing to complications.
His passing marks the end of nearly 48 years of distinguished service in law enforcement.
Herman began his career with the Bellaire PD in the early 1980s and retired with the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office . In 2021, he returned to Bellaire PD as a Bailiff.
The Bellaire PD shared a heartfelt message honoring Herman’s contributions and extending their condolences to his family.
“We thank Mark for nearly 48 years of service as a police officer,” the department said.
