Amid a troubling rise in crashes and fatalities, officials launched a multi-agency task force to improve safety along Highway 99, also known as the Grand Parkway.
This collaborative effort includes law enforcement agencies from Harris, Fort Bend, Chambers, Liberty, and Montgomery counties, as well as the Texas Department of Public Safety and TXDOT.
Officials aim to tackle dangerous driving behaviors, including speeding and reckless driving, which have contributed to the increase in accidents.
The task force was unveiled during a press conference at Houston Transtar, where Sheriff Ed Gonzalez and other officials emphasized the importance of making Highway 99 safer for all drivers and passengers.
