Woman claims self-defense after killing man in Houston apartment

A woman is claiming that she acted in self-defense after a man was fatally shot in a Houston-area apartment.

Houston Police Department units responded to an apartment complex located at 6600 Hirsch Rd. at around 6:15 p.m. Sunday night.

When they arrived, they found a man with a gunshot wound. Houston Fire Department officials pronounced him dead at the scene.

Investigators detained the woman at the scene for questioning, and she claimed that she shot the man in self-defense.

HPD officials say the woman will be interviewed by detectives, and the investigation is ongoing.
