HOUSTON – A deadly carjacking at a park in southwest Houston Wednesday night claimed one man’s life and sent another to the hospital.

It happened around 8:45 p.m. at Townwood Park on Simsbrook Drive off Buffalo Speedway, when witnesses told police three men there were approached by an unknown number of other people who tried to carjack them.
A fight ensued and members of the other group then started shooting. Two of the three men were shot, one of them died from his injuries while the other was taken to a hospital in stable condition. Their 2004 white Ford Expedition, however, was stolen.

Several witnesses at the scene were detained, Houston PD Lt. Riley said, but the exact number and charges were not disclosed, as of this writing.
