Inmate who escaped custody at Harris County Joint Processing Center given $1 million bond
Daniel Eugene Douglas (KPRC 2)
HOUSTON – The inmate who escaped from custody while being processed at the Harris County Joint Processing Center on Thursday has been given a $1 million bond.
Daniel Eugene Douglas, 22, was able to escape from the processing center parking garage in downtown Houston while being escorted along with three other inmates by Baytown police officers around noon on Thursday.
Douglas was later located by Metro PD and was taken into custody.
He was originally charged with aggravated assault in a family violence case.
“Anyone charged with a violent crime raises concerns for public safety. We appreciate the efforts of everyone involved in ensuring his swift capture,” Baytown Police said in a statement Thursday.
Court records indicate Douglas was given a bond of $1 million for the escape charge. His bond totals the amount of $2 million since his added charges.
