Man hit and killed in Wharton (Wharton Police Department)
WHARTON, Texas – A man is dead and another was flown to Houston hospital after they were hit by a vehicle while working on a broken down 18-wheeler on the side of US 59 in Wharton Friday night.
The Wharton Police Department said it happened in the southbound lanes of US 59 near Ponderosa Road.
The two men were working on the 18-wheeler when another vehicle hit them.
One man was killed and the other was taken by life-flight to a Houston hospital.
Police say the 18-wheeler was not well-lit at the time of the crash, which contributed to the crash. The other details are still being investigated.
“We pray for the deceased person’s family. Out of respect to them, we are not releasing his name at this time,” the department said.
