HOUSTON – A man is dead and the search is on for the driver who killed him in a hit-and-run crash in west Houston overnight Monday.

It happened a little after 12:45 a.m. when a man was crossing the street (using the crosswalk) on Westheimer and Dairy Ashford. Houston police say a dark-colored vehicle heading eastbound then hit the unidentified man and kept on going.
Emergency responders rushed the man to a hospital, where he died from his injuries.

At last check, police were combing the area for surveillance video as part of an ongoing investigation to locate the driver.
