The charges stem from allegations that Moore used syringes to inject a clear and unlabeled substance into the women, causing at least one Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus infection. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, MRSA is a cause of staph infection that is difficult to treat because of resistance to some antibiotics.
Moore plead guilty to one count of medical practice act causing serious bodily injury, a third-degree felony. He was sentenced to five years in prison.
