‘Very real looking:’ Mont Belvieu police disarm, detain teenager pointing BB gun replica at passerby’s

MONT BELVIEU, Texas – Police in Mont Belvieu detained and transported a 16-year-old for a mental health evaluation after he reportedly pointed a BB gun at multiple people near a park.

Police say they received multiple calls at 6:58 p.m. Sunday from people in the Cherry Point neighborhood about a male near a park, armed with a handgun and actively pointing it at multiple passerby’s.

Units responded and found the 16-year-old. They were able to disarm him and detain him and discovered the handgun was actually a BB gun replica of a semi-automatic pistol.

The teenager was taken into custody and was transported for a mental health evaluation.

The case is still being investigated.
