HOUSTON – Pool season starts Saturday, May 25 through September 1, 2024. and Houston needs lifeguards!
If you or someone you know is looking for a summer job, then they’re in luck because The City of Houston’s Parks & Recreation Department’s Aquatics Office is offering $500 incentives for those who work throughout the summer.

To qualify, applicants must meet the following conditions:
Must be 16-years-old on or before May 31, 2024
Must pass standard lifeguard Swim Evaluation
Must Pass American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, which is offered/approved by HPARD Aquatic Administration
Must pass a physical exam, drug test, and criminal background check
Currently, the following positions are available, and here’s what they pay:
Lifeguard: $16/hour
Headguard: $18/hour
Aquatic Center Supervisor: $20/hour
Now about that $500 incentive: $250 is given on the first two weeks after being hired no later than June 30. And then the final $250 is given after completing the last two-weeks of work through the end of the season.
