Human remains found in NW Harris County identified as missing 63-year-old woman

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – Authorities say human remains found in northwest Harris County on April 24 belong to a woman who was reported missing in August of 2023.

According to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, the remains were found by a work crew cutting trees in the 11500 block of Cypresswood Drive on April 24.

Harris County Pct. 4 deputies responded to the scene as well as Harris County Sheriff’s Office homicide investigators and the Harris County Institute of Forensic Science.

On May 2, investigators learned the remains belonged to “Joann” Osageide Montgomery, 63.

• Suspect identified, wanted in connection to murder of attorney at Houston McDonald’s

Montgomery had last been seen on Aug. 29, 2023 in the 12200 block of FM 1960 W. She had been reported missing by her common-law husband.

The investigation remains ongoing and her cause and manner of death are still pending.
