HOUSTON – A search is underway for whoever shot a man in northwest Harris County early Wednesday morning.

Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said it happened on Wimbledon Oaks Rd. off Hwy 290 & Huffmeister a little before 3:15 a.m. That’s when the Sheriff says via X, formerly known as Twitter, that a man in his early 50s “got in his vehicle, set to go to work” when several shots were fired at his car.

The unidentified man was hit several times, as a result, and responding officers found his body still seated in his vehicle.

In a later post, Sheriff Gonzalez said it appears the man was shot with an AK-47 “type weapon” and worked for a major company near the airport for 30 years.

No additional information has been shared, as of this writing, so a motive is unclear but an investigation remains underway. Officials are also asking for anyone in the area who has surveillance video to share it with the Sheriff’s Office.
