According to Sgt. Beau Beaty with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, a Kawasaki motorcycle was traveling westbound at a high rate of speed. A Toyota Rav4 was also traveling westbound and attempted to get into the left turn lane at the intersection.

The motorcycle tried to pass the Rav4 to the left, but ended up clipping the vehicle, causing it to go over the raised concrete median.

The driver of the motorcycle came off the motorcycle, which continued to go westbound in the eastbound lane. It was then struck by two vehicles.

The driver of the motorcycle was also run over by a white SUV as he was laying in the eastbound lane. He died from his injuries.

Beaty said all drivers involved stayed at the scene and no one was believed to be impaired.

The motorcyclist was also not believed to be impaired, but authorities continue to investigate that.

It is believed that the driver of the motorcycle was in his mid-20s.
