It happened around 12:30 a.m. when officers from their tactical division were preparing to serve a warrant on Richmond Ave. in north Houston. However, a mother tracking her stolen car via LoJack, flagged down police, saying her vehicle was nearby.

Officers found the car and tried to pull the driver over, but they kept on going so a brief chase ensued.

The chase took officers to the 3000 block of Skypark on Westchase and ended in a crash, with the thief running away. HPD Lt. Riley said inside the stolen car, a 2-year-old little girl was found in the backseat. She seemed uninjured but was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

Meanwhile, a perimeter was established but officers were unable to catch the thief, but their identity was confirmed by the child’s mother. It’s unclear what charges the unidentified suspect is facing, but Lt. Riley did say “he” is already wanted for a previous auto theft and robbery.
