Rojas and another man were ambushed at a gas station on S. Wayside Drive around 7:16 p.m. Monday.

Assistant Chief Adrian Rodriguez with HPD said four men who were in two separate vehicles, a gray Dodge Charger, and a silver Mercedes sedan, pulled up to the gas station. Three of them, all dressed in white t-shirts, jumped out of the cars and opened fire on Rojas and the other man as they were leaving the convenience store.

Rojas died at the scene. The other man, who social media users say was a Houston-based rapper, was shot and taken to the hospital and remains in critical condition.

Rojas, 34, lived in Atlanta with his wife and children and worked as a DJ, according to his father who said his son may have been at the gas station with another DJ.

“I’m hurt. I lost a son and it’s never easy to lose someone under those circumstances,” Pacheco said.

Pacheco said the preliminary information he’s gotten from investigators is that the ambush was a hit job on a DJ, but he doesn’t remember the name police gave him.

Authorities are now searching for the shooters who took off and were last seen on Telephone Road.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Houston Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.

After the news broke of his murder, several Dominican Republic-based social media pages gave condolences to the family for their loss.
