Currently, firefighters are staged in Alpine, Amarillo, Big Spring, Childress, Fort Stockton, Lubbock and San Angelo among other locations.

High winds, gusting to 65 mph, and low humidity will align with dry grass vegetation may result in large wildfires that are difficult to control. Evacuations may be necessary under these conditions, officials said.

If you spot a wildfire, officials ask residents to call local authorities to help stop the spread.
