Man shot, killed while trying to break into ex-wife’s apartment, deputies say

HOUSTON – A man was reportedly shot and killed Thursday night while attempting to break into his ex-wife’s apartment in north Houston.

The shooting took place at an apartment complex on Blue Ash and Barren Springs Drive at around 8:50 p.m.

Deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said when they showed up at the location, they found a 35-year-old man who had been shot to death.

Investigators believe that the man was at the apartment earlier that night and had gotten into an argument with his ex-wife.

He was said to have left the apartment and the woman called some of her friends over to her place.

Later, officials say the man came back and forced his way inside the woman’s unit. That’s when investigators believe the shooting happened although deputies did not say who opened fire.

Authorities say that last September, another man was shot and killed at the same apartment complex.

KPRC 2′s T.J. Parker spoke to family members on the scene who said the man who was killed Thursday is actually a relative of the other person who was previously shot.

Investigators also said there were two kids inside the apartment at the time but they were not hurt.

Another person was injured and was taken to the hospital.

At this time, authorities are still searching for the shooter. If you have any information, you’re urged to contact the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
